American Red Cross

Gertrude Hawk Chocolates presented a $5,000 donation to the American Red Cross on March 20, 2012.   This donation was presented to Cynthia Strenkoski, Development Director, American Red Cross Scranton Chapter and Maria Elisa Giordano, COO, American Red Cross of Lackawanna County.

 This $5000 donation was raised though proceeds from a limited edition box of Gertrude Hawk’s signature Peanut Butter Smidgens^® designed exclusively for the American Red Cross.

 Gertrude Hawk’s President and CEO, Bill Aubrey, explains why he chose to help support the efforts of the American Red Cross:

“Gertrude Hawk Chocolates has a strong history of supporting our local communities.  The opportunity to provide a Red Cross Smidgen pack is our honor.  Whether supporting our local communities in time of disaster, or meeting the needs of our local military families, the American Red Cross has always been there.  We, in turn, need to be there for the American Red Cross.  I cannot think of a better way to support the American Red Cross cause than by enjoying a box of peanut butter Smidgens.”

Smidgens® of Hope

Gertrude Hawk Chocolates presented a $10,000 donation to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure in January of 2012. This donation was presented to Dolly Woody, Executive Director, Susan G. Komen for the Cure of Northeastern Pennsylvania.

Gertrude Hawk Chocolates raised this donation through sales of their signature “Smidgens® of Hope,” chocolates. $1 from the proceeds of each “Smidgens® of Hope,” sold was donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Chocolate Dreams Documentary

Chocolate Dreams is a one-hour WVIA original documentary film that tells the all-American story of the founding and evolution of Gertrude Hawk Chocolates, and provides viewers with an entertaining and unique behind-the-scenes look at the industry and art of making chocolate products. Chocolate Dreams premieres on WVIA on March 5th at 7pm.

16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament

Gertrude Hawk’s 16th Annual Charity Golf Tournament took place on June 6, 2011 at The Country Club at Woodloch Springs. This year’s recepient was The Commonwealth Medical College. The money raised will support a variety of activities, including:
     · Development of research facilities
     · Medical Sciences Building construction and support
     · Student scholarships
     · Recruitment and support of faculty
     · Development of simulation centers in their regional campuses
